This summer up to 40 teams of intrepid adventurers will take on the ultimate challenge, to take part in the UK’s first art on tour banger rally by travelling the 1219 miles from Sheffield to Monte Carlo in a car worth £650 or less!
Each team will be going the distance to help to end youth homelessness by supporting and raising money for Roundabout.
The idea of this unique fundraising event came from Goo Design‘s Matt Cockayne, a local Sheffield artist who has painted the fantastic promotional car for Roundabout (below). Also partners in the event are Sheffield City Council and Becks & co.
How does it work?
We are inviting up to 40 local businesses to take part in this epic adventure. Each business finds a team of three to take part in the rally which will take place from 21st-25th September 2018.
Artists are invited to submit designs for car bonnets that participating companies will choose from early in the year. Businesses then purchase a car from either our suggested dealers or from their own contacts for £650 or less, before the bonnet designs are brought to life!
If you’re an artist and interested in submitting a design, please click here.
All the individually designed bonnets will be exhibited in a prominent location in Sheffield throughout August 2018.
On 21st September, the teams set off on the four-day journey starting from Sheffield, stopping at Brussels, Luxembourg, Strasbourg, and various other places on the way to Monte Carlo. The bonnets then return to Sheffield to be auctioned to raise funds for Roundabout!
