DBL raises hundreds for Roundabout!

Earl Robinson, the sales director from DBL Logistics, participated in our fourth Sleep Out event in May. He slept rough for one night at CADS Works with other supporters and so far has raised £430 in sponsorship!

Previously, DBL Logistics’ managing director David Clarkson has raised more than £3,500 by taking part in various events, including the last two Sleep Outs in April and November of 2015.

The event began at 8pm and ran through the night until 7am the following morning, featuring fun, games, food, entertainment and music.

The real challenge began at midnight when participants, equipped with sleeping bags and cardboard, bedded down for the night whilst the rain hammered down.

“Roundabout is a fantastic local charity and one which we have been proud to support for a number of years,” explained Earl.

“It was tough but worth it for the amount that we raised. Nights like these really do make a difference, in terms of both the funds and awareness raised. I was very pleased to be involved again and I’m sure we’ll take part again in the future.”

Ruth Gage, our Fundraising and Communications Manager, said: “We asked our supporters to sleep rough for a night and get sponsored. Every penny raised goes towards helping us provide a safe place for young people and prevent them from experiencing homelessness in the future.

“Of course an event like this cannot truly replicate what it is like to be lonely, frightened, cold and homeless but it can help to make a real difference to those many young people who, through no fault of their own, face these terrible challenges every day.

“It’s the support of individuals and businesses such as DBL Logistics that allows us to carry on our work in the city and their continued support is something we are extremely grateful for.”
