Over £200 raised at our fundraising barbecue!

The sun shone and the sausages sizzled at a fundraising barbecue event, raising an incredible £209.10 for Roundabout.

Back in May, the residents invited a small amount of supporters to a coffee morning at the hostel, where they sold homemade cakes and served tea and coffee to guests. Organised by one of our hostel support workers, Dawn Charlesworth, not only did this event raise some funds for the charity but it allowed the supporters to see ‘behind the scenes’ and get a better idea of how we’re helping young people at the hostel.

Last week, some of the young people wanted to open up to hostel and thank more of our supporters by inviting them to a fundraising barbecue supported by leading training provider, Interserve Learning and Employment.

“The coffee morning was hugely successful, and really gave people an idea of how their support directly helps young people in Sheffield,” explains Dawn, who organised the events.

“We’re so glad to have been able to do a similar event again and are extremely grateful that so many of our supporters came along. We’d also like to say a huge thank you to Interserve for helping make the event such a success!”

Interserve is dedicated to help schemes which have a positive impact on wider communities and local economies. The Sheffield branch of Interserve worked with the charity to organise the event and on the day, their hospitality trainers worked with the young people at the hostel and taught them culinary skills.

“The incredible work that Roundabout does is something we were keen to get involved with”, explains Thomas Moore, Interserve’s Careers Development Officer.

“It was great to see first-hand how the young people at the hostel are thriving and we’re delighted to have been able to help make the event a success”.

A huge thank you to all those who came along!
