Punk bands support Roundabout

Sheffield underground music venue The Mulberry Tavern is aiming to raise hundreds of pounds in support of Roundabout with their annual New Year Punk music event!

The event on Friday 20th January will feature 3 rock bands– Septic Psycho, Murdaball and Prisoners of War. This is the second event held at the Arundel Gate venue, which raised over £250 for Roundabout at a similar gig twelve months ago.

The suggested entry fee is £2 and there will be a raffle with fantastic prizes including donated Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday tickets, drinks vouchers and gig tickets. To help boost the amounts raised, a ‘request DJ’ will be collecting £1 donations in return for song requests!

“Back in the late 70s, Sheffield was awash with punks & other youth subcultures,” explains Nidge Gregory, the event organiser.

“Many of these young people became homeless for one reason or another and fell into difficult times.

“Roundabout opened its doors giving many of these young people a safe place to stay and provided a solid foundation for them to build the rest of their lives.

“I want to help celebrate the charity’s fortieth birthday this year and the gig was such a success last year, I was keen to do it again!”
