Residents get on their bikes

A group of around seven young residents living at our hostel in Sheffield are raising money to say thank you to the help they’ve received.

Fadi is 17 years old and currently lives at the hostel. He was eager to fundraise for Roundabout and so recruited more residents to take part too.

“We want to say thank you to the Roundabout hostel for the support and shelter that they have provided for young people like us in difficult situations,” said Fadi.

“The staff have done so much for us and other young people in Sheffield.

“Without Roundabout we don’t know where we’d be right now.”

The group are planning to cycle 12 miles around Derwent and Howden reservoirs in the Peak District on Saturday 6th August, and will be getting sponsored to do so.

The event will be supported by Recycle Bikes, who will be providing bikes for the young people and holding a road safety lesson before the event. Based in Heeley, the organisation specialises in recycled bike sales, service and repair and youth and adult training.

“The young people are very keen to raise money for Roundabout to thank the charity and all the staff for what they’ve done for them and continue to do every day,” explains Angela Walker, who works for Recycle Bikes.

“We’re really happy that we’re able to help with this event by providing the young people with suitable bikes and safety guidance for their route.”

To get involved with this event, please contact Roundabout’s Fundraising team on fundraising@roundaboutltd.org or call Ruth on 0114 253 6753.
