TK Maxx awards £1,000 to Roundabout

Recently we have gained support from the well-known global retailer TK Maxx! After seeing Roundabout on BBC Look North last year, TK Maxx employee Lindsey Gibson saw how we work with young people to try and reduce homelessness in Sheffield. Consequently, she decided to nominate us in the hope that we would benefit from TK Maxx’s Community Fund.

TK Maxx’s Community Fund is dedicated to supporting local vulnerable children and young people to achieve their potential. Through this fund, over 150 charities in local communities have been supported in the last 12 months, including Roundabout. We’re pleased to say that we were awarded £1,000!

“Roundabout featured on BBC Look North last year, where a hostel resident gave a tour and explained how much the charity does to help homeless young people every day. As soon as I saw the feature, I immediately knew that they were the charity I wanted to nominate to benefit from the Fund,” explains Lindsey.

“After having had a tour of the hostel myself and chatting to the team there, I’m really pleased that TK Maxx is able to help such a worthwhile cause.”

Caitlin Hodgkinson, Roundabout’s Fundraising and Communications Co-ordinator, says “We really appreciate Lindsey choosing to nominate us and are delighted to receive support from TK Maxx. Across all of our services, we work with over 150 young people every single day.  Kind donations like this go a long way and help to ensure that we can continue to support our city’s most vulnerable young people.”

Along with donating £1,000, TK Maxx’s local district teams are supporting the young people directly by providing Roundabout with essential items that they may need.

“When I looked around the hostel, I was shown a bedroom that was ready for a new young person to move into. The charity had provided brand new bedding, towels, cutlery and an alarm clock – all little touches that would really help someone who may have arrived with nothing,” explains Lindsey.

“I’m really keen to support them and to help young people on their journey to independence when they’re at their most vulnerable.”

“I’m happy to say following the visit to Roundabout’s hostel, over 300 items of toiletries were collected by my colleagues to give these young people basics that we often take for granted.”
