Our project in Doncaster is a Transitional Housing Service, for young people who are leaving care.
In 2012, Roundabout opened a four-bedroomed house in Doncaster to provide support to young people preparing to leave care.
The service moved to a bigger house at a different location in 2016 which is much more suitable. The project caters for up to six young people and is staffed throughout the day and night.
The young people we accommodate need time and support to develop. Our young people are often leaving care or custody or have recently become homeless. While living at this project, they practice their independent living skills before moving into their own tenancy. The young people are given tailored support, which helps them become more independent. We want to make sure we prepare them with the necessary skills they need to break the cycle of homelessness.
This service is normally accessed by Doncaster Social Workers, however we do welcome referrals from other local authorities. Referrals are usually made via the White Rose Framework, but authorities not in this framework can submit a referral form.
