What started as a simple way for gamers to swap pre-loved board and video games has become a fantastic fundraiser for Roundabout, raising more than £20,000 to support young people facing homelessness across South Yorkshire.

Sheffield’s gaming community makes a difference

Roundabout’s popular Game Swap events, held in partnership with The Treehouse Board Game Café and Patriot Games who are both part of the Sheffield Games Collective, have now raised an amazing £21,576 since launching five years ago.

The latest Game Swap, held at Patriot Games in Sheffield city centre, raised more than £1,600 in just three hours, with board game and video game enthusiasts coming together to swap pre-loved games while supporting Roundabout’s work with vulnerable young people.

The twice-yearly Game Swap has become a much-loved event in Sheffield’s gaming calendar, giving people the chance to donate unwanted games, discover something new to play and help make a real difference to young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Supporting Roundabout’s work with young people

Roundabout Business Development Manager Scott Brown said: “Reaching more than £20,000 raised is an incredible milestone and we’re so grateful to everyone who has supported the Game Swap over the past five years.

“Every game donated, bought or swapped helps us continue supporting young people across South Yorkshire who need a safe place to stay and the opportunity to build a brighter future.

“The events are always fantastic, bringing together Sheffield’s brilliant gaming community while raising vital funds for Roundabout. We’d like to say a huge thank you to The Treehouse, Patriot Games and everyone who has helped make the Game Swap such a success.”
