GB Boxing Coaches’ 50-Round Box-a-Thon

Wed 26 Nov 2025

GB Boxing coaches Gary Hale (Podium Coach) and Malcolm Maciver (Performance Coach) are taking on a huge challenge as they complete 50 three-minute rounds on the boxing bag to raise money for GB Boxing’s charity partners, Roundabout and Sheffield Mind.

The Box-a-Thon will take place at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield (EIS), home of Great Britain’s Olympic boxing programme. Gary and Malcolm will be joined by a host of special guests including Olympic gold medallists Lauren Price and Galal Yafai, Olympic bronze medallist and GB Boxing consultant coach Richie Woodhall, members of the current GB Boxing squad, and service users from both charities who will all take turns on the bags to keep the action going through 50 rounds.

The event aims to raise vital funds and awareness for Roundabout, which works to prevent youth homelessness in South Yorkshire, and Sheffield Mind, which provides mental health and wellbeing support across the city.

Gary Hale said: “We wanted to do something that would challenge us while supporting two amazing causes. Roundabout and Sheffield Mind make a real difference to people’s lives, and this is our way of giving back.”

The Box-a-Thon will begin in the afternoon, with guest participants rotating throughout the 50 rounds to keep the energy high from the first bell to the last.

Start time: Afternoon (exact start time TBC)
Date: 26th November 2025
Location: English Institute of Sport Sheffield (EIS), Coleridge Road, Sheffield
