About Roundabout Future Builders
Future Builders is a project that provides shared accommodation for young people who are in employment. We have 16 bed spaces across five properties. The rent is kept low to make it affordable for young people who are completing an apprenticeship, working part-time or on a low income, providing them with a good foundation from which to begin living independently.
While living in the accommodation, young people receive support from a key worker to develop their independent living skills before moving on to their own accommodation when they feel ready.
When the project first began, the properties were in disrepair, and young people gained valuable work experience in the building trade by working alongside professional contractors to renovate them. Together, they breathed new life into neglected houses, which then became homes where the young people could live while pursuing their apprenticeships.
Although the programme no longer operates in this way, as all the properties are now maintained to a good standard, young people are encouraged to get involved in their general upkeep alongside their support worker. This includes activities such as painting and decorating, gardening and other general maintenance tasks.
