Resettlement

The Resettlement Team has around 55 properties around Sheffield consisting of flats, houses and bedsits, available for young people to prepare for independent living in a semi-supported housing setting.

Roundabout and Sheffield Youth Justice Service developed a scheme to support and enable young people aged 16-18 to live in accommodation as an alternative to custody. This was based upon research which found that ex-offenders released from custody who are homeless are more likely to re-offend. Alongside this, working with Children Looked After and Leaving Cares service in Sheffield, the Resettlement Team can offer single accommodation to young people who are preparing to leave care as a chance to practice independence skills outside of a residential setting. We are able to work with local authorities around the country, providing a quality support service to the young people we work with.

We primarily work with young people who have been referred by either Social Services or Sheffield Youth Justice Service, however, any other referral where funding is provided will be considered. We pride ourselves on considering all referrals, including those for young people that have struggled in other accommodation and remain difficult to place. We are happy to work alongside other care agencies to increase support levels to those most appropriate, with the young person at the centre of any plans.
