DBL Logistics make a splash for charity

The transport planning manager of DBL Logistics, an organisation that is a long-term supporter of Roundabout, is going to extreme lengths to raise money for our charity by completing a gruelling open water swim series and a number of 5km and 10km runs!

Paul Greenway, 43, from Fulwood, Sheffield, will compete in the Great Swim Series – which consists of five open water swimming events ranging from half a mile to 10km in distance.

First up in his series of fundraising events is the Asda Sheffield 10k Run at the end of October. The money raised from these events will be split between two South Yorkshire charities – one of which is Roundabout.

Next year’s series is the fourth time Paul will have competed in Great Swim events, but the first time he’ll have competed all five events and the first time he’ll have done it for charity. Paul said: “At first, I decided to do something different to lose a bit of weight and get fitter, but never did I envisage that I’d end up going to the lengths I’ve gone to!

“But I’ve realised that I love what I’m doing. When I came to DBL Logistics I knew of the charity activity they do, and it made sense for me to get involved and put what I was doing to a good cause.

“Up to now, I’ve competed in three Great Swim Series events – Great Windermere twice and the Great Scottish Swim once.

“The support from the team here at DBL has been outstanding. This firm is a proper family business and always does its bit for charity, and I feel privileged to be part of it.”

Dave Clarkson, managing director of DBL Logistics, said: “We’re always proud to do our bit for local good causes, and it’s great that Paul has got in on the act and gone to such incredible lengths to raise money.

“We’ll be supporting Paul all the way in his extreme activities – he’s certainly taken ‘getting fit’ to the next level. I’d urge anybody who reads Paul’s story to get behind his fundraising effort and donate to two brilliant charities.”

Ruth Gage, our Fundraising & Communications Manager, said: “We’re delighted that Paul has chosen to raise money for us, particularly considering he’s going to such extreme lengths.

“We wish him all the best with the various extreme activities he’s going to be doing in the coming months.”
