‘Musicians Against Homelessness’ gig to benefit Sheffield’s youth homeless

Sheffield has been confirmed as one of the cities that will be hosting gigs in support of the Musicians Against Homelessness initiative. The shows, which are organised independently all over the country, will be raising funds for homeless charity ‘Crisis’, and in Sheffield they will also be supporting Roundabout!

Former ‘Oasis’ manager, Alan McGee, is launching the brand new charity campaign across the UK. Its twin aims are to raise funds to help the issue of homelessness and to provide gig opportunities for up-and-coming bands across the country.

Speaking about the issue of homelessness, McGee said, “It’s a massive modern problem and one we can’t just step over and ignore. All of us need to question the stereotypical images we have of people on the streets. Falling on hard times or having a particular run of bad luck is something that could happen to anyone”.

The Sheffield gig will be taking place on Saturday 8th October at The RS Bar on St Mary’s Road, near the city centre. It will feature local bands such as The Trainways, Stray Scene and The Velcro Teddy Bears, whose Manager Neil Clarke has helped organise the event alongside Rachel Brown, MD of Northern Exposure, a music promotion and webzine company.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for local bands to come together and raise money for an issue that is prevalent in society today”, explains Neil.

“We wanted to make sure the event benefitted our community. By supporting Roundabout, we’ll be helping end youth homeless here in Sheffield.”

Tickets are available at £5 each, and can be purchased at The RS Bar, 156 St Mary’s Road, S2 4AX.
