Roundabout gains powerful support from Evolution

Sheffield-based power tool company, Evolution Power Tools, has donated £5,000 to our No 11 Campaign!

No11 is the building next door to our hostel which provides five self-contained flats for eight young people as they prepare for independent living. Young people living at No 11 have the same key work and support provision as residents in the core hostel but they will also have started or are working towards some form of education, training or employment.

Now No 11 is in desperate need of new heating, kitchens and redecoration, as it will soon be unfit for purpose. Work is due to start in the next couple of months, but we still need to raise funds!

“We saw firsthand the difference Roundabout makes to young people when we spoke to a young person who had been living at the hostel” said Matthew Gavins, Managing Director of Evolution.

“It’s clear the service they provide is vital, so we were more than happy to help them with this campaign and can’t wait to see the transformation in a few months!”

Evolution is a dedicated advocate of our charity and their support was instrumental in setting up Roundabout’s Homeless Prevention Service when it opened in June 2014. Their ongoing involvement has been vital to keeping the service running.

“The most common reason for a young person becoming homeless is problems within the family” explained Tracey Jackson, Roundabout’s Deputy CEO.

“Roundabout’s Prevention Service offers mediation to these young people and their families to try and enable them to stay within the family home. Where these issues can’t be resolved, young people find themselves needing support and accommodation, such as Roundabout’s No 11 provision”.

“Without Evolution’s financial and moral support, we wouldn’t have been able to set up this essential service at our Prevention Centre so we’re incredibly grateful”.
