Joe Lycett fans laughed their way to raising hundreds at comedy show

Roundabout volunteers headed to Joe Lycett’s show in Sheffield last week, to hold a bucket collection at his “That’s the Way A-Ha A-Ha Joe Lycett” sell-out tour.

The sold-out show, held at The Octagon at the University of Sheffield’s Student Union, attracted around 1,000 fans of the witty comedian from all over Sheffield and nearby areas. Among these supporters were Gogglebox stars Reverend Kate Bottley and her husband Graham, who happily posed for a photo with our Roundabout volunteers.

“I’ve not got my slippers on tonight, I’m afraid” Kate joked. “I don’t wear them all the time, against what people believe when they see me on tv!”

Joe, originally from Birmingham, regularly supports the work of well-known London-based homeless charity Centrepoint who, along with Roundabout, are part of the End Youth Homelessness partnership. Joe has been supporting all the End Youth Homelessness partners during his tour and was very keen to promote Roundabout and the work that we do in Sheffield.

At the end of his performance, he encouraged the audience to donate and the total amount collected was an incredible £301.71!

“We’re delighted that so many people dug deep this evening” explained Ben Keegan, our Chief Executive.

“We’ve had a great time seeing the show and really appreciate Joe’s support. The amount that we’ve raised in just one evening is fantastic and will make a huge difference to our charity.”
