Mattress company pledges to tackle homelessness

Luxury mattress company Sloane and Sons is taking part in ‘National Bed Month’ which aims to raise awareness around the importance of a good night’s sleep in order to aid health and wellbeing.

However, in contrast, during the same month, the mattress company is also focusing on helping those who do not have the luxury of a roof over their heads, let alone a bed.

Throughout March, the Burton-on-Trent firm will be donating five per cent of all sales made online to benefit the various homeless charities who are partnered as part of End Youth Homelessness (EYH) scheme, including Roundabout. The local company will then present EYH with a cheque once the month-long campaign has finished.

“I think we are all guilty at some point about ignoring or forgetting about homelessness, or associating homelessness with alcohol or drug addiction,” explains Edward Sloane, the Managing Director of the firm.

“This really isn’t the case, and lots of the young people that EYH work with find themselves homeless and at risk through no fault of their own.

“Just reading some of the stories and case studies on the EYH website confirmed that they were the right choice in choosing a charity to help in 2016. I look forward to potentially seeing first hand some of the fantastic work they do.”
