Meet our new Mediation Worker, Cheryl!

We’d like to welcome Cheryl, who is providing maternity cover for our mediation worker post! Cheryl has previously been part of the Supporting Tenants team here at Roundabout and is eager to get stuck in with her new role.

Roundabout is strongly committed to preventing young people from becoming homeless and believes home is the best place to be if it is safe to be there.  As a mediation worker, Cheryl will offer advice and support to young people aged 13 to 19 who are at risk of becoming homeless due to family relationship breakdown.

Based at the Prevention Centre on Union Street near the Peace Gardens, Cheryl will work alongside young people and their families independently of each other, to help both parties establish the issues that are causing concern and explore possible outcomes. Then there is the opportunity for everyone to get together to discuss problems and negotiate outcomes if necessary. The mediation process focuses on solutions and is led by the young person and their family, not the mediator.

“I’m really looking forward to my new role as a mediation worker,” says Cheryl.

“If your family is having problems getting along, or you struggle to get your point across and feel they don’t listen, then please get in touch.”

Cheryl can be contacted by emailing mediation@roundaboutltd.org or calling 0114 272 8424. Alternatively, pop in to our Homeless Prevention Service at 22 Union Street on any weekday, 10am-4pm.
