Sheffield Mutual donate £1,000 to our No 11 Campaign

We are delighted that Sheffield Mutual, a well-established, local organisation that aims to improve the financial wellbeing of its members, are supporting Roundabout and our No11 Campaign. Last Wednesday, our Fundraising and Communications Manager, Ruth Gage, met Sheffield Mutual’s Dawn Gregory to receive a £1,000 donation to support the renovation which is due to start this summer.

No 11 is right next door to the hostel and consists of five self-contained flats with eight bedrooms, providing a safe place for eight young people to stay who have taken the next step and left the main hostel. Residents have the same key work and support provision as they had in the hostel, but will have started or are working towards some form of education, training or employment. No 11 is the next step on from the hostel, giving the young person a little more freedom and preparing them for an independent life in their own place. These flats help break the cycle of homelessness.

No 11 is very run down, needing new heating, kitchens and decorating throughout. The flats and living areas will soon no longer be fit for purpose. Losing these flats would drastically affect the amount of young people we can help in Sheffield every day and means those leaving the hostel are at greater risk of re-experiencing homelessness.

We are so pleased that Sheffield Mutual have seen the importance of our campaign, and that they are keen to help us raise vital funds by encouraging people to partake in various fundraising activities such as skydives, marathons and taking part in our Sleep Out event! Please see our Fundraising page on our website for more information on how you can get involved. Alternatively, one-off donations can be made through our JustGiving page.
