The Musical Theatre Drive-In: FAQs

It’s the greatest show…a day of musical theatre excitement and excellence that comes to Sheffield this summer!

Roundabout are incredibly excited to be bringing you this brand new theatrical extravaganza that will be LIVE in the orange car park at Meadowhall Shopping Centre on Saturday June 12.

There will be four live performances throughout the day – at 10am, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm – giving plenty of opportunity for South Yorkshire’s most talented actors, singers and theatre companies to take to the stage for the first time since the pandemic lockdown saw all live performances cancelled.

The shows will have a drive-in format, with all vehicles safely social distanced and with the numbers of performers on stage limited to follow all current government safety guidelines.

Early bird tickets are limited for two weeks from the launch date.

To get your tickets and see the running order for each show, visit our event page.

More information including what to expect on the day and how to get to the venue will be sent to you nearer the time of the event, using the email address provided at the time of booking.

Tickets:

One ticket includes admission for one car into the event. Please make sure you specify the number of people in your car at the time of purchase, as we must be aware of the number of people on site for health and safety.  If you attend the event with more people in your car than is specified on your ticket, you will be unable to enter. Additional tickets may not be available on the door if capacity is reached.

You will be directed to an available parking spot, and you will have a designated space to the left of your vehicle to sit, dance and sing along in. You are more than welcome to stay in your vehicle for the duration of the show, but please keep in mind that those sitting in the back may need to adjust their position so they are not obstructed by those in the front seats.

FAQs:

How do I contact customer services?

For any queries relating specifically to the event, please contact Emily.bush@roundaboutltd.org.

Will I receive a physical ticket(s)?

You will receive an online booking confirmation email with your tickets attached from The Leadmill. You will need to show your confirmation email at the event, which will be scanned to show how many tickets you have purchased for those within your vehicle.

Will there be parking?

This is a drive-in style cinema and therefore all attendees must attend the event in a car. All cars will be parked on a hard-standing car park within the grounds of Meadowhall Orange Car park. Our volunteers will show you where to park on arrival.

Please note that cars may be allocated a parking space based on size, with bigger vehicles positioned towards the back. Our large screen and sound system will ensure everyone can enjoy the spectacle of the event, wherever they are parked. Once parked, we ask you not to leave your allocated bay until the end of the event, unless you need to visit the toilet facilities. Our parking stewards will let you know when you are able to exit the site.

How many people can I bring in my car?

The ticket price states how many people should be in your car, this includes children. Please note that those seated in the back of the vehicle may need to adjust their position so that they are not obstructed by those in the front seats if you wish to sit in your car whilst watching the show.

Will you be serving food?

We will be offering a delicious food and drink delivery service to your vehicle. All food can be pre-ordered online before your event start. Pre-ordering food helps our food vendors work out how many orders they need to prepare in advance of each event to reduce food waste. For health and safety purposes, please take your rubbish away with you after the event. Our delivery staff will pass your food and drink orders to you, through the driver’s side window.

Further details of how to order food will be sent closer to the event date.

Will you be serving drinks?

Yes! Drinks can be ordered at the event online.

Can I leave my car engine switched on during the event?

We ask that all cars switch their engines off once they are parked at the event. We also ask that you turn your exterior and interior car lights off once the show has started. We appreciate that it may get warm, so you can switch your engines on to wind down your windows, but please only do so if necessary. You will have a space to the left of your vehicle that you can use to exit your vehicle and watch the show. We recommend opening a window to help prevent your windows from steaming up.

How will I listen to the show?

Our sound system will be loud enough for you to hear even if you are sat in your vehicle. We will be set up just like a festival but in drive-in mode!

What should I bring?

Bring your E-tickets with you and make sure you have them ready for scanning on arrival. Please also bring your iOS or Android device so you can access your food and drink orders via the online delivery service. Please bring all necessary PPE including hand sanitiser and face masks.

What if it is raining?

The Musical Theatre Drive In will take place on a hard-standing car park and will go ahead come rain or shine. In the unlikely event that weather conditions present a danger to attendees and staff, we will notify you as soon as reasonably practicable and we may need to reschedule the event. In this instance, your ticket will be valid for the new date.

What if I am a wheelchair user?

This event is accessible to wheelchair users. There will be disabled toilets located at the front of the carpark. If you are a wheelchair user, please select this option when purchasing a ticket and email emily.bush@roundaboutltd.org so that we can reserve you a suitable parking spot at the event.

Will you refund my ticket purchase?

We do not offer refunds on ticket purchases. However, if we have to cancel this event due to restrictions imposed by the Government in relation to Covid-19 then a face value refund will be offered. A face value refund is the cost of your ticket minus any booking fees or ticket protection insurance that has been paid. If you have purchased ticket protection insurance through The Leadmill, then you will need to refer to the T&Cs for that insurance to make a claim.

Will there be toilet facilities?

Yes, there will be toilet facilities located at the front of the carpark. Please wash your hands before and after using the toilets and adhere to the queueing systems which will be signposted. Please ensure you follow our one way system and to wear a mask when using our facilities.

Will the show have subtitles?

This show is live on stage and will not be subtitled.

Do I need ticket protection?

When purchasing tickets, you will have the option to add ticket protection at an additional cost. Please bear in mind that ticket protection is sold by The Leadmill, and is a completely separate entity to Roundabout Ltd and The Musical Theatre Drive In. We have no control or influence over their T&Cs. We strongly recommend that you read the T&Cs before purchasing ticket protection to ensure you fully understand the terms of the agreement. Please note that your ticket protection may not be refundable, particularly where we need to cancel an event due to restrictions imposed by the government in relation to Covid-19.
